Attorney General's Office Ready to Face Ibam's Cassation in Chromebook Corruption Case

The defendant in the Chromebook procurement corruption case, Ibrahim Arief, also known as Ibam, has officially filed for cassation with the Supreme Court (MA). The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has confirmed that it will also pursue legal recourse through cassation in this matter.

Kejagung’s Head of Public Relations, Anang Supriatna, stated that the public prosecutor team (JPU) has submitted the cassation for the case. The prosecutors will subsequently prepare the cassation memorandum and the counter-memorandum.

“It is true, the JPU team has filed for cassation regarding the case, and the JPU will prepare the cassation memorandum and counter-memorandum,” Anang told reporters on Monday (14/09/2026).

Information regarding Ibam’s cassation filing was recorded in the Case Tracking Information System (SIPP) of the Central Jakarta District Court. The application was registered on Friday, 11 September 2026.

As background, at the first-instance court, Ibam was sentenced to four years in prison in the Chromebook corruption case. The judge ruled that Ibam was guilty of violating Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of the Corruption Crime Law in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph 1 of the 1st of the Criminal Code (KUHP).

In the verdict, the judge imposed a prison sentence of four years on Ibam, along with a fine of Rp 500 million, or a substitute imprisonment of 120 days. Disagreeing with the verdict, Ibam’s legal team pursued an appeal.

Subsequently, at the appeal level in the Jakarta High Court (PT DKI Jakarta), Ibam’s sentence was increased from four years to five years in prison. The court also ordered Ibam to pay restitution amounting to Rp 5 billion.
