Attorney General's Office Raids Suspect's Home in Petral Case, Seizes Documents and Electronic Items
The manhunt for Riza Chalid, the suspect in the alleged corruption case of crude oil procurement at Pertamina Energy Trading Limited (Petral) from 2008 to 2015, continues unabated. Amid the pursuit, reports suggest the fugitive’s whereabouts have shifted across international borders, making tracking increasingly difficult.
The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has affirmed that the investigation is proceeding. Most recently, the investigative team carried out a search on Thursday night, 9 April 2026, and secured several pieces of evidence from locations linked to the suspects.
Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, Director of Investigations at the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes at the AGO, revealed that the seized evidence primarily consists of documents and electronic devices.
“It’s just documents and electronic evidence that were seized from the suspects’ homes,” he stated on Tuesday, 14 April 2026.
Nevertheless, Riza Chalid’s location remains unknown. Rumours that he has been arrested in Dubai were denied by the Adhyaksa Corps.
“I’m not aware of that (information about his arrest in Dubai),” he added.
Previously, it was reported that the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) uncovered the role of oil businessman Riza Chalid, who has been redesignated as a suspect in the alleged corruption case of crude oil procurement at Pertamina Energy Trading Limited (Petral) from 2008 to 2015.
This is the second time Riza has been implicated in an energy sector corruption case. He was previously charged in a case involving the governance of crude oil and refinery products from 2018 to 2023. In this Petral case from 2008 to 2015, investigators have found evidence of Riza’s active involvement in arranging the oil procurement process.
“One of the other suspects is Mr MRC as the BO (Beneficial Owner) of several companies,” stated Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, Director of Investigations at the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) at the AGO, quoted on Friday, 10 April 2026.
