Attorney General's Office Pulls Karo Chief Prosecutor, Prepares Ethical Action if Violations Proven
The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has recalled the Chief Prosecutor of Karo (Kajari), Dante Rajagukguk, and the prosecutors handling the Amsal Sitepu case. Kejagung is preparing sanctions if they are found to have violated procedures in managing the case.
“If they are proven to have violated and acted unprofessionally, there will be internal ethical actions against them,” said Head of Public Relations and Protocols at Kejagung, Anang Supriatna, to reporters on Sunday (5/4/2026).
Anang stated that they were secured by Kejagung’s intelligence team. Currently, Kejagung’s internal team is still clarifying with the Karo District Prosecutor’s Office prosecutors regarding the handling of the Amsal Sitepu case.
“Clearly, clarification will be carried out on them to determine whether the case handling was professional or not; we will wait for the results of the clarification and inform accordingly,” he said.
“Of course, in this matter, we need time, and we still prioritise the principle of caution while upholding the presumption of innocence,” he added.
As is known, Amsal Sitepu was demanded a two-year prison sentence by the Karo District Prosecutor’s Office prosecutors in the corruption case involving the production of a village profile video in Karo Regency. The judge then declared Amsal not guilty and issued an acquittal verdict.
Following the acquittal verdict, allegations of ethical violations by the Karo District Prosecutor’s Office prosecutors in the Amsal Sitepu case emerged. The DPR’s Commission III even held a meeting with the Karo Chief Prosecutor and his team on Thursday (2/4) to learn about the handling of the case.
