Attorney General's Office proposes increased allowances for staff in 3T regions
The Attorney General’s Office has proposed improving the welfare of prosecutors and staff serving in frontier, outermost, and disadvantaged (3T) regions through an additional budget request for 2027.
Deputy Attorney General Asep Nana Mulyana conveyed the proposal during a working meeting and public hearing with House of Representatives Commission III at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday.
“Perhaps as a reminder, members of Commission III, there may be recognition or additions relating to allowances for those serving in 3T categories,” Asep said.
According to him, the welfare improvements include performance allowances, official facilities, and functional position allowances for prosecutors, particularly for prosecution service staff assigned to 3T regions.
“This also concerns issues such as price inflation, transport, and so on, which differ from colleagues in other regions,” he said.
Improving the welfare of 3T staff is one of the needs in the proposed additional budget for the Attorney General’s Office for 2027, amounting to Rp22.1 trillion.
Asep said the 2027 budget ceiling for the Attorney General’s Office of Rp21.5 trillion has not met the ideal requirement of Rp43.6 trillion.
These needs are set out in Attorney General Letter Number B-24/A/CR.2/02/2026 dated 12 February 2026 concerning 2027 budget requirements and Attorney General Letter Number B-107/A/CR.2/06/2026 dated 10 June 2026 concerning the proposed additional budget for 2027.
In addition to staff welfare, the additional budget is proposed to meet personnel expenditure needs following the appointment of 7,057 civil servant candidates to permanent civil servant status and 1,609 government employees with work agreements who began serving in 2026.
The Attorney General’s Office has also received the transfer of 786 civil servants from the State Confiscated Goods Storage House from the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections, in line with the handover of those duties to the prosecution service.
Other needs include accelerating the President’s directive tasks, adjusting investigation and prosecution duties following the enactment of the new Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure Code, and supporting facilities and infrastructure for the duties and functions of the prosecution service.
“The enactment of the new Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure Code will certainly change the law enforcement landscape, where we now use a coordination pattern from the outset, working alongside investigators to oversee and build cases with the hope that cases no longer go back and forth between investigators and the prosecution service,” Asep said.
House of Representatives Commission III member Hinca I.P. Pandjaitan welcomed the proposal to improve the welfare of prosecution staff serving in 3T regions.
According to Hinca, prosecutors serving in those regions face different challenges, and their performance therefore deserves attention.
“On that basis, it is reasonable for us to note that this performance should be rewarded, with the hope I mentioned earlier,” he said.
