JAKARTA - The Head of the Attorney General’s Office Public Relations Centre, Anang Supriatna, revealed that the Attorney General has emphasised the importance of overseeing development in Papua. According to him, this step aligns with the Prosecutor’s commitment to supporting the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision through the implementation of the President’s Asta Cita, particularly in strengthening legal reform as well as eradicating corruption and narcotics. Several instructions were given by the Attorney General, including in the intelligence sector to enhance early detection of various potential threats and disruptions. “This includes overseeing 38 National Strategic Projects in Papua with a value of around Rp 3.7 trillion,” said Anang in his statement on Wednesday (1/4/2026). “This oversight is crucial to ensure that government programmes run on target and in accordance with legal provisions, thereby able to drive community welfare,” he explained. This monitoring effort is part of efforts to maintain public trust in law enforcement institutions. “Public trust is an achievement that must be maintained through tangible performance, not just an endpoint,” he said. “Papua’s abundant natural wealth, from gold to marine products, must be managed legally and firmly for the welfare of indigenous communities and national prosperity,” he stressed. Through this oversight of strategic projects and priority programmes, the Prosecutor’s Office is expected to support accelerated development while ensuring its benefits are optimally felt by the people of Papua.
