Attorney General's Office Orders All High Prosecutors' Offices to Halt Data Collection on Free Nutritious Meals Programme

The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has requested that all High Prosecutors’ Offices (Kejati) cease the collection of data and information related to the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme. This step was taken to prevent the abuse of authority in its implementation on the ground. The instruction is contained in Circular Number B-3256/F.2/Fd.2/07/2026, issued on Friday (10/7/2026). The letter was signed directly by the Director of Investigations at the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi. The Head of the Attorney General’s Office Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, confirmed the circular. He explained that the cessation was ordered because the deadline for the data collection had expired. “It is correct, the letter was issued because the time limit for collecting data has been completed and the letter was issued so that it is not misused in its implementation,” Anang told reporters on Monday (13/7). Anang stated that the halt in data collection does not mean the results that have been gathered will be ignored. He said that follow-up actions will still be taken on the data that has been compiled. The data will be examined further in relation to the alleged corruption case in the governance of the MBG programme currently being handled by the Adhyaksa Corps. “Of course, the data that has been collected is related to the actions of the suspects who are already being investigated by the Attorney General’s Office,” Anang explained. Based on the contents of the circular, this order is an evaluation of a previous instruction on 15 June 2026, which asked the High Prosecutors’ Offices to inventory issues with the MBG Programme by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). This cessation step was also taken following a disposition from Attorney General ST Burhanuddin. “Herewith, we request all Heads of High Prosecutors’ Offices throughout Indonesia to cease all data and information collection activities related to the MBG Programme within their respective jurisdictions,” the statement in the circular read.
