Attorney General's Office Names Ombudsman Chairman Hery Susanto as Suspect in Nickel Corruption Case
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has named Hery Susanto, Chairman of the Indonesian Ombudsman for the 2026-2031 period, as a suspect in an alleged criminal corruption case related to nickel mining business governance activities from 2013 to 2025. The Director of Investigation (Dirdik) of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) at Kejagung stated that Hery carried out the alleged criminal act while serving as a Commissioner of the Indonesian Ombudsman for the 2021-2026 period. “The designation of the suspect was made after the investigation team obtained sufficient evidence through a series of investigative actions, searches, and others,” he said at the Jampidsus Building of Kejagung in Jakarta on Thursday. Syarief stated that Hery is alleged to have received a sum of money from PT TSHI to arrange assistance for the company in resolving issues related to the calculation of state non-tax revenue (PNBP). Following his designation as a suspect, Hery will undergo detention at the Salemba Detention Centre branch of the South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office for the next 20 days. At the location, Hery was seen leaving the Jampidsus Kejagung Building at 11.19 WIB. He was wearing a light blue T-shirt and grey trousers. As he was escorted by officers, he remained silent and immediately entered the detention vehicle.
