The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has named four new suspects in a corruption case involving the management of bauxite mining permits (IUP) in West Kalimantan between 2017 and 2025.

The suspects are YA, a commissioner of PT QSS; IA, a licensing consultant for PT QSS and director of PT BMU; HSFD, a public official (mineral business development analyst at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources); and AP, a director of PT QSS.

AGO spokesperson Anang Supriatna stated that the suspects were named after investigators seized sufficient initial evidence.

“The investigation team seized several documents and electronic evidence (with court approval), along with minutes of expert testimony on state financial losses,” Anang said in a written statement on Sunday, 24 May 2026.

Anang explained that the case began when PT QSS, a bauxite mining company, was acquired by suspect SDT alongside YA, the company’s commissioner, who held an exploration IUP under West Kalimantan Governor Decree No. 210/DISTAMBEN/2016 dated 7 April 2016.

“The purchased bauxite was then exported using PT QSS’s IUP OP, RKAB, and export approval documents,” he added.

Anang stated that during the permit and export documentation process, SDT sought assistance from IA, the PT QSS consultant, and another individual to communicate with and bribe public official HSFD to issue permits despite non-compliance with regulations.

The suspects face charges under Articles 603 and 604 of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code (KUHP) in conjunction with Law No. 31 of 1999 on Eradication of Corruption.

Previously, the AGO named Sudianto, alias Aseng, the beneficial owner of PT Quality Sukses Sejahtera (QSS), as a suspect in the same case.

In this case, PT QSS is suspected of mining bauxite outside its permitted area, with the extracted minerals sold for export using company documents allegedly involving public officials.
