Attorney General's Office Investigates Network of Foundations Linked to Free Nutritious Meal Programme Corruption
The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) is currently tracing a large network of foundations acting as partners to the Nutrition Service Delivery Units (SPPG), or partners of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme, which are implicated in a corruption scandal involving the former Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, and two deputies.
Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, Director of Investigation at the Jampidsus division of the Attorney General’s Office, revealed that the number of affiliated partners involved in the corruption is large-scale, prompting intensive data collection by investigators. While the total state losses are still being calculated, investigators have found that these foundations appear to be managed by external parties but are operationally controlled by the suspects.
In addition to the foundation partnerships, the three former BGN leaders are also accused of price mark-ups in the procurement of goods and services. Investigators have detailed four instances of fictitious or inflated procurement, including the procurement of 21,801 electric motorcycles with a budget of approximately Rp1 trillion, 32,000 pairs of non-compliant shoes, over 31,000 tablets, and 5,400 75-inch televisions that did not meet actual operational needs.
‘These procurements do not support the field implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal programme and have clearly resulted in state financial losses,’ stated the Director of Investigation.
Dadan Hindayana, Sonny Sonjaya, and Lodewyk Pusung are suspected of violating Articles 603 and 604 in conjunction with Article 20 of Law Number 31 of 1999 on the Eradication of Corruption Crimes. To prevent the suspects from fleeing or destroying evidence, the Attorney General’s Office has ordered their detention for 20 days at the Salemba Detention Centre.
This investigation follows the recent dismissal of Dadan Hindayana by President Prabowo Subianto, who appointed Nanik S. Deyang as the new Head of the National Nutrition Agency effective 2 June 2026.
