Attorney General's Office: Hery Susanto Allegedly Received Rp1.5 Billion from PT TSHI
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) stated that Hery Susanto, Chairman of the Indonesian Ombudsman, is suspected of receiving a bribe amounting to Rp1.5 billion from PT TSHI in a case of alleged criminal corruption in nickel mining business governance activities from 2013 to 2025. “So, at the time the individual was serving as a Commissioner of the Indonesian Ombudsman. This incident occurred in 2025, and for 2025, we have currently detected receipts of approximately Rp1.5 billion,” said the Director of Investigations (Dirdik) of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) of the AGO, Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, at the Jampidsus Building of the AGO, Jakarta, on Thursday. Syarief explained that the corruption incident began when PT TSHI faced issues with the calculation of non-tax state revenue (PNBP) by the Ministry of Forestry (Kemenhut). Subsequently, PT TSHI sought a solution by colluding with Hery Susanto, who was then a Commissioner of the Indonesian Ombudsman. “Together with HS (Hery Susanto) to arrange so that the letter or policy issued by the Ministry of Forestry was corrected by the Ombudsman with an order for PT TSHI to carry out its own calculation regarding the burden to be paid,” he said. To carry out this, he added, Hery received a sum of money from LKM, who is the Director of PT TSHI. “Approximately what has been handed over from this one person is around Rp1.5 billion,” he stated. For his actions, Hery has been charged with violating Article 12 letter a, Article 12 letter b, Article 5, and Article 606 of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the new Criminal Code. Following being named a suspect, Hery is undergoing detention at the Salemba Detention Centre Branch of the South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office for the next 20 days.
