Attorney General's Office Halts Data Collection on Free Nutritious Meal Programme Issues

The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has ceased the collection of data and information concerning the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme. Head of the Attorney General’s Office Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, confirmed a circular letter containing the order to halt the data collection. “The letter was issued because the deadline for data collection has been completed and it was issued to prevent misuse,” Anang said at the Attorney General’s Office in Jakarta on Monday (13/7). The circular, numbered B-3256/F.2/Fd.2/07/2026, was issued on Friday (10/7) and signed by the Director of Investigations for the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi. Previously, Jampidsus had issued Letter Number B-2668/F.2/Fd.2/06/2026 dated 15 June 2026, ordering all heads of high prosecutors’ offices to inventory and report problems in the implementation of the MBG programme. Following a disposition from the Attorney General, all heads of high prosecutors’ offices were asked to stop the data and information collection activities at the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) in their respective jurisdictions. The Attorney General’s disposition was issued after the circulation of a letter from the Head of the Internal Security Sub-Directorate of the Central Java Police’s Professional and Security Division regarding an examination of SPPG managers by the prosecutor’s office. The letter advised that police personnel serving as SPPG managers should not comply with prosecutors’ summons without proper legal accompaniment procedures. In response, the Central Java High Prosecutor’s Office asserted that it did not conduct any searches, examinations, or sting operations against SPPG managers.
