Attorney General's Office: Free Nutritious Meal Budget Managed by Foundations Affiliated with Former BGN Head Dadan and Others
The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has disclosed that the budget for the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme has been managed by foundations affiliated with the former Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, and his associates. The MBG programme is allocated a budget of Rp85.20 trillion for 2025 and Rp268 trillion for 2026, sourced from the State Budget (APBN).
“The budget should have been managed by foundations within each school. However, in reality, the foundations appointed as partners for the School Nutrition Implementation Unit (SPPG) were used as vehicles for crime and are affiliated with officials or employees of the BGN who do not meet the requirements to be SPPG partners,” stated the Director of Investigation of the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Syarfe Sulaeman Nahdi, during a press conference on Wednesday (3/6).
Syarief noted that despite failing to meet the necessary criteria, these foundations were still appointed through the manipulation of the verification process on the BGN partner portal, under the direction of the suspects. “These foundations receive incentives amounting to billions of rupiah every day. These foundations are affiliated with, among others, individuals DH, SS, and LP,” Syarief added.
He further explained that ‘affiliation’ implies that these foundations are effectively owned or controlled by others through proxies. Previously, the Attorney General’s Office named the former Head of the National Nutrition Agency, Dadan Hindayana, as a corruption suspect. The designation followed an interrogation by investigators of the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes on Wednesday (3/6). In addition to Dadan, the Attorney General’s Office also named two former Deputy Heads of the BGN, Sony Sonjaya and Lodewyk Pusung, as suspects. Following their designation as suspects, all three individuals were immediately detained at the Salemba Detention Centre for investigation purposes.
