Attorney General's Office Explains Instruction to Halt MBG Data Collection

The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has halted all data and information collection activities related to the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme previously conducted by High Prosecutor’s Offices (Kejati). The cessation was implemented as the data collection period concluded and to prevent potential abuse of authority in the field.

The instruction was contained in Letter Number B-3256/F.2/Fd.2/07/2026, issued on Friday (10/7/2026). The letter was signed by the Director of Investigations at the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi.

Head of the Attorney General’s Office Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, confirmed the issuance of the letter. He explained that the halt was ordered because the deadline for data collection had been completed.

“It is true, the letter was issued because the time limit for data collection has finished and the letter was issued to prevent misuse in its implementation,” Anang told reporters on Monday (13/7).

Anang stated that the cessation of data collection does not mean the information already gathered will be ignored. The data that has been collected will still be followed up.

According to Anang, the data will be examined further in the handling of the alleged corruption case concerning the management of the MBG Programme currently being investigated by the Adhyaksa Corps.

“Of course, the data that has been collected is related to the actions of the suspects currently under investigation by the Attorney General’s Office,” Anang explained.

Based on the contents of the letter, the cessation of data collection activities was the result of an evaluation of an instruction issued on 15 June 2026. At that time, the Heads of High Prosecutor’s Offices were asked to conduct an inventory of issues related to the MBG Programme organised by the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).

This step was also taken following a disposition from Attorney General ST Burhanuddin.

“Herewith, we request all Heads of High Prosecutor’s Offices throughout Indonesia to cease all data and information collection activities related to the MBG Programme within their respective jurisdictions,” read the statement in the circular letter.
