Attorney General's Office Emphasises that Videographer Toni Aji Case Differs from Amsal Sitepu Case
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has emphasised that the alleged corruption case ensnaring videographer Toni Aji Anggoro from Karo Regency differs from the similar case involving Amsal Sitepu.
Head of the Legal Information Centre (Kapuspenkum) of Kejagung, Anang Supriatna, stated that Toni’s case has attained final legal force (inkrah) and has been executed.
“This case has already proceeded and is inkrah. But the cases are different. They were indeed handled by the Karo District Prosecutor’s Office,” Anang said at the Kejagung Building in Jakarta on Wednesday (22/4/2026).
“Each case is not the same. There are respective characteristics. Perhaps the type is the same, but there are certainly differences in characteristics,” he explained.
Controversy arose following allegations of criminalisation against Toni Aji Anggoro, who was sentenced to one year in prison and a fine of Rp 50 million subsidiary two months’ imprisonment in the alleged corruption case of producing village profile videos and websites in Karo Regency for the 2020-2023 period.
These allegations emerged due to comparisons with the case ensnaring Amsal Sitepu, who was acquitted by the court.
In response, the North Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office assured that the legal process against Toni proceeded in accordance with procedures and statutory provisions.
“We are objective; there is no criminalisation, it follows SOP and the corruption criminal act law,” said Rizaldi on Monday (20/4/2026).
He explained that although Toni held the status of an employee at one company, based on investigation and trial results, he was deemed to have participated in the criminal act of corruption along with other defendants.
In that case, several other parties were involved, including one person still at large.
Meanwhile, several other defendants have been handed down verdicts with varying decisions, including some that have attained final legal force.
