Attorney General's Office Detains Four Prosecutors in Aftermath of Amsal Sitepu Case: Karo Chief Prosecutor and Criminal Division Head
The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has arrested four prosecutors in the wake of the alleged corruption case concerning village profile video budgets by Amsal Sitepu. The four individuals are the Karo Chief Prosecutor, Danke Rajagukguk; the Criminal Investigation Section Head at the Karo Prosecutor’s Office, Reinhard Harve Sembiring; and two deputy section heads at the Karo Prosecutor’s Office.
“Clearly, last Saturday night, the individuals concerned, including the Karo Chief Prosecutor, the Criminal Investigation Section Head, and the two deputy section heads who handled the case, have been secured and recalled by the Attorney General’s Office Intelligence Team,” stated the Head of the Legal Information Centre at Kejagung, Anang Supriatna, to reporters on Monday (6/4/2026).
Anang explained that the four are currently being examined to probe allegations of procedural violations. The examination covers the entire handling process, from the investigation stage to prosecution conducted by the prosecutors.
“In overall handling. From the beginning to the end, including not only the initial investigation handling but also the prosecution as it stands now,” he clarified.
He added that recalling the four prosecutors ensures an objective examination process. Previously, examinations were conducted in North Sumatra.
“So indeed, at that time, examinations were also being carried out at the North Sumatra Prosecutor’s Office, but we have taken them over directly by the Kejagung team to ensure greater objectivity,” he said.
Anang stressed that Kejagung is seriously examining the Karo Prosecutor’s Office and the other prosecutors. According to him, if violations are found in this case, they will be referred to the supervisory team and the examination team at the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes.
“We will assess how the legal process against Amsal Sitepu has been conducted—whether it complies with regulations and is professional. If there are violations, there will certainly be internal ethical sanctions,” he stated.
