Attorney General's Office Detains Don Ritto After Police Handover, Lawyer Expresses Shock
The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has detained Don Ritto (DR), a suspect in an alleged money laundering (TPPU) case related to the handling of the PT Asabri case for the 2020-2024 period, following his handover from the Indonesian National Police (Polri). Don Ritto arrived at the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) building in Jakarta at 14.16 WIB wearing an orange Polri detainee shirt. The suspect was then escorted by prosecutor’s office officials into the building. Approximately two hours later, Don Ritto emerged wearing a pink vest designated for Kejagung detainees and was immediately taken to a detention vehicle. Don Ritto’s legal counsel, Handika Hanggowongso, stated that his client would be detained at the Kejagung detention centre. ‘What shocked us is that our client, Mr Don, was immediately detained at the C7 Detention Centre of the Republic of Indonesia’s Attorney General’s Office,’ he said. He revealed that the detention was based on the same charges as those filed by the Polda Metro Jaya, specifically concerning the handling of the PT Asabri case in the Tan Kian cluster. The police handed over the suspect Don Ritto along with a number of pieces of evidence to the Kejagung in connection with three alleged corruption and money laundering cases.
