Attorney General's Office designates Riza Chalid and six others as suspects in Petral case
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has designated Mohammad Riza Chalid and six other individuals as suspects in the alleged corruption case concerning the procurement of crude oil and refined products at Pertamina Energy Trading Ltd. (Petral) from 2008 to 2015.
Director of Investigation (Dirdik) of the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) of the Republic of Indonesia Attorney General’s Office, Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, at the Jampidsus Building of the Attorney General’s Office, Jakarta, on Thursday, stated that Riza Chalid was designated as a suspect for his role as the beneficial owner of Gold Manor, VeritaOil, and Global Energy Resources (GER).
The other suspects are IRW, as a private party or director of companies owned by Riza Chalid.
Then, BBG as Manager of Marketing and Trading Directorate of PT Pertamina and last position as Managing Director of Pertamina Energy Service (PES).
Next, AGS as Head of Trading PES for the period 2012–2014.
Furthermore, MLY as Senior Trader PES for the period 2009-2015. Then, suspect NRD as Crude Trading Manager PES.
Lastly, suspect TFK as VP of Integrated Supply Chain (ISC) of PT Pertamina with the last position as President Director of PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS).
Syarief said that in this case, Riza Chalid as the beneficial owner of several companies, together with suspect IRW through his companies or affiliated companies, has influenced the procurement process or tender for crude oil, refined products, and transportation.
“Such communication involved conditioning the tender and providing information on the HPS (estimated price), resulting in mark-ups or overpricing because the procurement became uncompetitive,” he said.
Ultimately, the procurement of crude oil and refined products was carried out, causing losses to PT Pertamina.
After being designated as suspects, five suspects will be detained in the detention centre for the next 20 days. Meanwhile, suspect BBG is under city detention based on health examination results, and Riza Chalid remains at large.
“Regarding one suspect, namely MRC, he has indeed been listed as a DPO (wanted person) by the Attorney General’s Office,” Syarief stated.
