The investigation into the alleged corruption case in the mining sector implicating Samin Tan continues to progress at the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung). Most recently, they have acted swiftly by conducting searches in two provinces simultaneously, targeting the trail of problematic mining output distribution.

The investigative team from the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) focused on areas in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, and Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan. This covert operation took place intensively from morning until night on Tuesday, 31 March 2026.

“Indeed, in South Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan, Banjarmasin and Palangkaraya (the searches),” said the Director of Investigation at Jampidsus Kejagung, Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, on Wednesday, 1 April 2026.

The two search sites were no ordinary locations. Investigators targeted the Harbour Master and Port Authority Office (KSOP), suspected of holding important traces of shipping traffic for mining products from PT Asmin Koalindo Tuhup. From these searches, investigators secured several crucial documents and electronic evidence items, which are now under further examination.

“Yes, the seized items include shipping documents related to the suspect’s company (Samin Tan) and electronic evidence,” he said.

These documents are believed to be closely linked to the shipping activities of the mining products from the company owned by Samin Tan. Investigators are now tracing the distribution flow to uncover broader potential legal violations.

Previously reported, the pursuit of the alleged coal mining corruption case ensnaring businessman Samin Tan is being accelerated. Most recently, the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) conducted large-scale searches in several areas.

In total, 14 locations were searched in this case development. Several important pieces of evidence were successfully secured by investigators.

“The investigative team at the Gedung Bundar has conducted several search activities and seizure processes in various places,” stated the Head of the Legal Information Centre at Kejagung, Anang Supriatna, on Monday, 30 March 2026.

Of the total locations searched, most were in Jakarta and West Java, totalling 10 sites. These included the office of PT Asmin Koalindo Tuhup (AKT), the office of PT MCM as an affiliate, and the residence of Samin Tan.

Additionally, searches also targeted Kalimantan areas. Specifically, three locations in Central Kalimantan and one in South Kalimantan.
