Attorney General's Office Clarifies Circular on Heightened Vigilance for Prosecutors Nationwide
The emergence of a Circular on heightened vigilance issued by the Junior Attorney General for Intelligence (Jamintel) of the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has sparked various speculations among the public. In response, the Adhyaksa Corps confirmed that the letter is not related to any specific issue or case currently in the spotlight. The letter, numbered R-696/D/Dip.4/07/2026 and signed by Jamintel Reda Manthovan on Wednesday, 8 July 2026, is said to be part of an internal mechanism to strengthen the integrity of all Adhyaksa Corps personnel.
Head of the Attorney General’s Office Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, stated that the substance of the circular emphasises the importance of maintaining professionalism in law enforcement duties. ‘Regarding that, the circular is more about maintaining integrity, maintaining good relations in law enforcement, it’s more towards that,’ he said, as quoted on Friday, 10 July 2026. According to Anang, the issuance of such circulars is not new. Within the Attorney General’s Office, strengthening the integrity of its apparatus is carried out periodically through various mechanisms, including routine briefings from leadership.
He mentioned that the leadership regularly reminds all ranks to maintain discipline, integrity, and vigilance in carrying out their duties as law enforcement officers. ‘It’s just general. Actually, every schedule, every two weeks, the leadership holds a Zoom meeting to remind the ranks. Our inherent supervision is running,’ he said. Anang added that each Junior Attorney General has the authority to issue circulars according to the needs of their respective fields. Therefore, the letter issued by Jamintel is part of a long-standing guidance pattern. He noted that the Intelligence division typically issues circulars related to monitoring Threats, Disturbances, Obstacles, and Challenges, while other divisions, such as general crimes and special crimes, also routinely issue circulars related to task implementation or adjustments to new policies.
