Attorney General's Office Awaits BGN Decision on Fate of Electric Motorcycles in MBG Corruption Case
The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) is still waiting for a decision from the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) regarding the fate of thousands of electric motorcycles involved in an alleged corruption case linked to the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme. Director of Investigations at the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, stated that his office has not yet decided on the use of the 21,801 vehicles and will first coordinate with BGN. “We are waiting for BGN regarding their use,” Syarief told reporters in Jakarta on Monday, 22 June 2026.
He explained that not all of the electric motorcycles under investigation have been seized by prosecutors. The decision on whether the vehicles can still be utilised will depend on further discussions with the agency responsible for the MBG programme. The investigation focuses on alleged irregularities, including suspected price mark-ups in the procurement process for the motorcycles intended to support the programme’s operations.
Meanwhile, the physical securing of evidence is nearing completion. Syarief confirmed that the sealing of warehouses storing the electric motorcycles in Bogor Regency, West Java, would be finalised today. “The sealing of all warehouses will be completed today,” he said. The warehouse sealing is a procedural step to secure the assets while investigators continue to develop the case and verify the physical quantity of the motorcycles against procurement documents.
