The Attorney General’s Office Asset Recovery Agency (BPA Kejaksaan) is auctioning assets seized in criminal cases, including a gold-coloured replica of a Pharaoh’s chair. The chair was sold for more than Rp80 million, nearly double the starting bid. “The Pharaoh’s Chair, Alhamdulillah, has been sold,” said Kuntadi, head of BPA Kejaksaan at the BPA office in Jakarta on Thursday, 21 May.

Kuntadi said the replica chair was sold for more than Rp80 million. “Its price is Rp80 million plus; it is a good value,” he said.

In the BPA Fair information, the replica chair had an opening price of Rp43,917,000. The deposit required for bidders was Rp10 million. The chair is an asset seized from a convicted person in the ASABRI corruption case, Jimmy Sutopo. It features Egyptian-style carvings reminiscent of reliefs on a pharaoh’s tomb on the replica chair. There is also a lion’s head carving on the arm of the chair. A pair of chairs is displayed in the exhibition area.

The auction of seized assets conducted by the BPA of the Republic of Indonesia officially closed today. Total auction proceeds reached Rp922,267,070,000. “The total money in is Rp922,267,070,000. The BPA Fair event generated, perhaps not profit but the price uplift above the reserve price; total around Rp74,758,000,000,” said Kuntadi.

Kuntadi said there were 308 items offered in BPA Fair 2026. Of these, 300 items were sold. “Of the 308 items, 300 were sold; eight items were not sold,” he said.

With this performance, BPA Fair 2026 surpassed its target, achieving an 88.64% sale rate, compared with the previously targeted 75%. “Thus the target of 75% has been surpassed today at 88.64%, which I regard as a successful event,” he said.

Kuntadi revealed BPA Fair will become an annual agenda going forward. It is hoped BPA Fair will act as a catalyst for other auctions. “The Attorney General has approved that BPA Fair will be an annual event, outside the routine sales we conduct, so BPA Fair will be used as a lever for the execution of other auctions,” he said.
