The Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has arrested the individual who bribed the Chairman of the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia, Hery Susanto, in the corruption case concerning the governance of nickel mining in Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) from 2013 to 2025.

The Head of the Legal Information Centre of Kejagung, Anang Supriatna, identified the briber as Laode Sinarwan Oda (LS), the President Director of PT Toshida Indonesia.

Anang stated that Laode was arrested by investigators at his home on Monday night (11/5) due to three instances of ignoring examination summonses.

“The investigative team carried out a forced summons, and the individual was secured at one of his residences in South Jakarta,” he told reporters during a press conference on Tuesday (12/5).

Following the arrest, Laode was immediately brought to Kejagung and examined by investigators from the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes.

Anang explained that based on the evidence and statements available, the investigators subsequently designated Laode as a suspect in the case. He was also immediately detained at the Salemba Detention Centre under Kejagung for the next 20 days.

“Immediately after that, he was designated as a suspect, and this morning around 02:00, he was placed in the Salemba Detention Centre,” he added.

Previously, Ombudsman RI Chairman Hery Susanto was designated as a suspect in the corruption case regarding nickel mining governance in Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) from 2013 to 2025.

The Director of Investigations for the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, Syarief Sulaeman Nahdi, stated that Hery played a role in issuing a letter correcting the amount of state non-tax revenue (PNBP) from the Ministry of Forestry (Kemenhut).

Hery also examined Kemenhut and arranged for the fine imposed on PT TSHI to appear erroneous. As a result, a corrective letter was issued by the Ombudsman, instructing PT TSHI to calculate its own obligations payable to the state.

For his actions benefiting PT TSHI, Syarief stated that Hery received compensation of Rp1.5 billion in 2025.
