Attorney General ST Burhanuddin has called upon all subordinates to protect the reputation of the institution. He emphasised that no member of the prosecution ranks should sell the name of the Attorney General’s Office for personal profit.

Burhanuddin made these remarks during his speech at the ceremony commemorating the Anniversary of the Attorney General’s Office on Wednesday, 2 September 202<0xC2>6.

He reminded staff that integrity is an absolute value that must be upheld by every member of the Adhyaksa corps. Burhanuddin requested that honesty, morality, justice, and ethics be applied throughout the execution of all duties.

“Maximum integrity and optimal morality can close the gaps for potential misconduct and prevent the erosion of the institution’s authority,” said Burhanuddin.

The head of the Adhyaksa corps warned all ranks that a prosecutor’s rank is not merely an attribute but a symbol of honour and trust. Therefore, Burhanuddin reminded them to maintain authority through humility. Furthermore, he requested that the authority granted by the state be exercised properly and that their positions be respected appropriately.

“Remember, never ask for or accept anything in the name of the institution. Because no matter how small, it can undermine the dignity of the Attorney General’s Office that we have collectively protected,” he asserted.

Burhanuddin subsequently ordered the prosecution service to synergise in achieving integrated, high-integrity law enforcement that respects respective authorities. This must be achieved without compromising the independence, objectivity, and integrity of the prosecution as a law enforcement body.

He noted that through strong and harmonious synergy, law enforcement will become more effective, efficient, and trustworthy, providing certainty and justice for all members of society.

He emphasised that public trust is an honour and a mandate that must be maintained through integrity, professionalism, and the best service to the community.

“Every member of the Adhyaksa corps is a mirror of the institution. Our attitudes, words, and behaviour do not only reflect our personal selves but determine the dignity and authority of the Attorney General’s Office in the eyes of the public,” he said.

“I remind all ranks to constantly maintain integrity, prioritise simplicity, and preserve the honour and authority of the institution in every step. Do not let a single disgraceful act ruin the good image that we have built and are currently building,” he added.
