Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin has revealed his desire to create a Faculty of Medicine at Universitas Adhyaksa. According to him, the educational institution under the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) will not be limited to legal studies alone.

“So, I might announce it again to everyone: we already have a university, which was formerly a higher school of law and is now Universitas Adhyaksa, and I have an aspiration to have a faculty of medicine,” said Burhanuddin while opening the National Congress of Persaja at the AGO in South Jakarta on Wednesday (15/4/2026).

He mentioned that Universitas Adhyaksa currently only has a Public Health programme. His side will communicate with the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI) to discuss the establishment of the medical faculty.

“There will be support from IDI for this medical faculty. Because we already have hospitals; usually, the requirement for a university to have a medical faculty is a hospital. We already have hospitals,” he stated.

Burhanuddin noted that the AGO has several hospitals in Banten, East Java, Jakarta, Jambi, and Bali. He said there are already 200 doctors working in the AGO’s hospitals.

“I request support from the gentlemen from IDI, and in any case, we also convey here that our hospitals are actually general hospitals,” he said.

Burhanuddin explained that the AGO’s hospitals are typically used for the operational health needs of suspects. According to him, this only utilises 2-5 per cent of their function.

“We only receive and examine suspects. Even that, if someone is ill, they might be admitted, although the room might be a bit different with bars, but it’s only 2 per cent,” he said.

“The remaining activities are for the public, so we still have general hospitals with BPJS coverage,” he added.
