Attorney General Urges BGN to Evaluate After MBG Governance Case: 'Don't Let It Happen Again'

Attorney General ST Burhanuddin received a courtesy visit from the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Sudaryono, and his staff today. The Attorney General said that the corruption in the governance of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme that has occurred should serve as evaluation material for the current BGN leadership.

“What is clear is that the leadership conveyed more about what has happened and made it material for future evaluation,” said the Head of the Attorney General’s Office Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, to reporters when delivering the Attorney General’s statement during the meeting with BGN leadership at the Attorney General’s Office building in Jakarta, Tuesday (11/8/2026).

Anang said the Attorney General also expressed hope that the corruption in MBG governance would not be repeated. According to Anang, the Attorney General is ready to provide assistance if BGN requires support from the Prosecutor’s Office in implementing the MBG programme.

“It must not happen again, especially in governance. And the Prosecutor’s Office is ready to help provide assistance going forward,” he said.

As is known, today the BGN leadership visited the Attorney General’s Office. During this courtesy visit, BGN Head Sudaryono and his staff requested assistance and supervision from the Attorney General’s Office for the implementation of the MBG programme.

“Because they are new officials, there are certainly many things that need to be communicated going forward in the context of cooperation in civil and state administrative matters,” said the Deputy for Monitoring and Supervision of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Ketut Sumedana, to reporters at the Attorney General’s Office building in Jakarta.

“He (the BGN Head) requested that going forward there will be assistance. Legal assistance, legal audits. Including field supervision involving colleagues at the District Prosecutor’s Offices and High Prosecutor’s Offices,” he continued.

Ketut said the investigation into the MBG governance case has become material for improvement and evaluation by BGN. He also said that the new BGN leadership is now committed to improving the MBG programme so that services to the public are more optimal.

“All governance will be built properly. The commitment of this new leadership is how to build good governance, yes, good services,” he added.
