Attorney General: The Prosecution's Journey Has Not Always Been Smooth, We Have Often Faced Setbacks and Disappointment

Attorney General ST Burhanuddin admitted that the institution he leads does not always face a smooth path. He noted that the Prosecution Service faces its own unique challenges, originating from both within and outside the institution.

This was revealed by Burhanuddin during his speech at the Prosecution Service Anniversary Ceremony on Wednesday, 2 September 2026.

“We know that the Prosecution’s journey is not always smooth. Challenges come from within and without, testing us repeatedly. We are not infrequently faced with setbacks and disappointment,” said Burhanuddin.

However, Burhanuddin emphasised that the Adhyaksa Corps must remain present and provide the best service to the Indonesian people. He did not deny that the Prosecution Service often faces heavy trials.

“In the midst of the various trials we are facing, we are reminded that the members of the Adhyaksa must always be ready to appear, ready to work, and ready to serve whenever the state and the community need us,” he said.

Burhanuddin admitted that the challenges faced by the Prosecution often lead him to reflect. This is because the Prosecution is an institution that must serve the state and the people.

“These challenges then stir my soul to reflect and raise questions. Have we reflected and raised questions? Are we on the right path? Have we given our best to this community and nation?” he asked.

Nevertheless, he asserted that the Adhyaksa Corps must rise from its setbacks. Burhanuddin urged all ranks to restore trust and reclaim the dignity of the institution, which had previously been scrutinised by the Indonesian public.

“We must not dwell in setback. Every setback must become a turning point towards a better state. This is the time for us to rise together, to restore trust, to restore the dignity of the institution, and to prove that the Prosecution is capable of passing tests to become even stronger. This is the time. The storm must pass,” said Burhanuddin.

“The resurgence of the Prosecution does not arise from a single policy or a single generation alone. A resurgence will only occur for the members of the Adhyaksa if they possess the willingness to walk together. Experience teaches us one thing: without solidity and solidarity, we will not be able to survive,” he added.
