Attorney General: Synergy with National Police Long-Established, We Cannot Be Separated

Attorney General ST Burhanuddin has emphasised that the synergy between the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) and the Indonesian National Police (Polri) has been established for a long time. Burhanuddin stressed that the two law enforcement institutions are a single unit that cannot be separated. This was conveyed by Burhanuddin during a meeting with National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and his ranks. The meeting also served to dispel rumours of friction between the Polri and Kejagung institutions. “Our synergy has been carried out for a long time because the law also requires us to synergise,” Burhanuddin told reporters at the Main Building of the Attorney General’s Office, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Monday (13/7/2026). Burhanuddin explained that the synergy shown today is a tangible form of the harmonious relationship between the Adhyaksa Corps and the Bhayangkara Corps. He mentioned that communication has been running well all this time, even though it has not always been highlighted by the media. “And of course, today we complete the picture for those who do not yet know how we synergise; this is our form. And this is not just today, we have been like this for a long time, it’s just that we have not been open with you all here,” he stated. Furthermore, Burhanuddin asserted that both institutions share the same vision and mission in providing legal services to the public. “We are a single unit. The goal is to provide a sense of security in society, to provide a sense of justice in society. We have the same goal and we cannot be separated,” he stressed. Echoing the Attorney General, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo confirmed there are no inter-institutional issues. During the meeting, General Sigit was accompanied by key officials from the National Police Headquarters. “I confirm here, especially as we are present together between the Attorney General and all key Adhyaksa officials. Of course, we both agree and convey to all ranks that there are no problems between these two institutions,” said General Sigit. Sigit assured that this solidarity will be continued down to the lowest levels across all regions. According to him, this is important to safeguard various strategic government agendas. “Earlier we agreed that we will continue to maintain friendly relations, after this it will be followed up at the ranks, at the provincial and district levels,” he explained. Sigit stated that synergy among law enforcers is currently needed. The goal is so that government programmes can be felt by the wider community. “Because we also realise that there are many government programme agendas that we must also guard and safeguard. Because this is all our hope to become programmes that are beneficial for the community, making Indonesia much better,” said General Sigit. “And of course, that requires stronger solidarity and synergy. Once again, there has never been a problem between the Prosecution and Police institutions,” he added.
