Attorney General Swears in 15 New High Prosecutors
Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin officially inaugurated 15 Heads of High Prosecutor Offices (Kajati) and Echelon II officials within the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) on Tuesday (11/8).
The inauguration was held at the Main Building of the Attorney General’s Office and was attended by all officials and the Prosecutorial Commission. In his address, the Attorney General emphasised that these positions are a mandate and a trust that must be safeguarded.
“A position is not merely a post, an honour, or power, but a mandate and a manifestation of the leadership’s trust that must be upheld and accounted for with integrity, professionalism, and loyalty,” he said.
He reminded the newly inaugurated officials that the prosecution service is currently facing trials and public scrutiny. Therefore, he asked them to work well to improve the institution’s image and restore public trust.
Burhanuddin also reminded the officials to pay attention to cases directly related to the public interest and cases that have an impact on the state’s finances and economy.
He stressed that the handling of corruption cases should not be centralised only at the Attorney General’s Office. High Prosecutor Offices and District Prosecutor Offices were urged to be courageous in handling strategic corruption cases in their respective regions professionally and responsibly.
“Law enforcement in the regions is called upon to be carried out quietly, calmly, measurably, and without causing counterproductive commotion, because the Kajati are the reflection and representation of the prosecution institution in the regions,” he said.
