Attorney General Seeks Budget for Seized Asset Maintenance

Jakarta - Attorney General ST Burhanuddin hopes the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) will receive a budget for maintaining seized assets. Speaking at the handover of Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) by the Asset Recovery Agency (BPA) in South Jakarta on Monday, he stated that the Kejagung currently lacks the funds to maintain seized luxury vehicles. “The vehicles must remain shiny, must remain in good condition, must remain in top form. We do not yet have maintenance costs,” he said. “We have thousands of hectares of assets seized by the special crimes unit, but we have also never had a budget for maintaining security so that these items remain intact, and especially none for the land they occupy,” he added. He therefore expressed hope that the Adhyaksa Corps could obtain maintenance funds so that the economic value of seized assets does not decline. Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, who was also present, responded to the Attorney General. “We will ensure it goes back to the Attorney General’s Office for asset maintenance in accordance with existing regulations. We will discuss it, Sir. The important thing is that it must exist and must be sufficient to maintain the assets,” he said. On Monday, the Attorney General’s Office officially handed over a total of Rp1.029 trillion in cash to the Finance Minister as non-tax state revenue. The funds came from the auction results of the BPA Fair held on 18–21 May 2026 and from tracing the assets of Eddy Tansil, a convicted embezzlement case fugitive.
