Attorney General Requests Asset Maintenance Funds from Finance Minister

Attorney General ST Burhanuddin has expressed hope for receiving maintenance and security funds for assets seized from corruptors. The hope was conveyed directly to Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa. Burhanuddin made the statement while handing over Non-Tax State Revenue (PNPB) totalling Rp 1,029,874,376,628 (1.029 trillion) to Purbaya at the Attorney General’s Office BPA building in South Jakarta on Monday (15/6/2026). Burhanuddin stated that the Attorney General’s Office does not yet have a maintenance budget to keep these assets in good condition. “And of course, as the custodian of these assets, we do not yet have a budget, Sir, for maintenance. So the vehicles must remain shiny, they must remain in good condition, they must remain running well. We have no funds, not yet, not that we don’t have any, for maintenance costs,” said Burhanuddin. Burhanuddin added that the Attorney General’s Office also lacks a budget for securing confiscated assets such as hectares of land. He said his office must keep these assets intact. “There are no funds yet for security. We have thousands of hectares of assets handled by the special crimes unit, but we have never had a budget for maintaining security so that these items remain intact, especially for occupied land,” he stated. Burhanuddin hoped the matter could be taken into account by Finance Minister Purbaya. He jokingly remarked that the Attorney General’s Office was not making a demand but merely expressing a hope to receive the budget. “This requires certain budgets and please, later on, please take this into account, Mr Minister, we are not asking, but we are merely hoping,” he said.
