Indonesia’s Attorney General’s Office (Kejaksaan Agung RI) remains committed to establishing clean and accountable village governance. This strengthening of governance structures is undertaken through the Village Guardian Programme (Jaksa Garda Desa).

“The Village Guardian Programme is designed to provide a sense of security for village officials in executing development programmes. We aim to build legal awareness from the grassroots level,” stated Reda Manthovani, Deputy Attorney General for Intelligence at Indonesia’s Attorney General’s Office, on Saturday 14 March 2026.

This was emphasised during the Programme Optimisation activity held in South Lampung Regency, Lampung on Friday 13 March.

Reda stressed that the Village Guardian Programme is not merely oversight, but rather a form of preventive support to prevent village heads and their staff from becoming entangled in legal problems whilst managing substantial village funds. He also affirmed that this initiative represents a concrete step by the Attorney General’s Office in supporting the government’s broader vision.

“The Village Guardian Programme aligns perfectly with the sixth pillar of President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s administration, namely building from the village level upwards to achieve economic equalisation and poverty eradication,” he stated.

Beyond the oversight aspect, the Deputy Attorney General highlighted the importance of inter-agency synergy at village level. He encouraged closer collaboration between the Attorney General’s Office and the National Association of Village Consultative Bodies (Abpednas).

“We expect active collaboration with Abpednas as our strategic field partner. Strengthening village governance requires effective checks and balances. With support from the Attorney General’s Office and oversight from Abpednas, we are confident that village budget leakage can be significantly minimised,” he emphasised.

The strategic event was also attended directly by the Head of Lampung High Prosecutor’s Office (Kajati) Kuntadi and South Lampung Regent Radityo Egi Pratama.

Radityo welcomed South Lampung’s selection as the location for this programme optimisation. According to him, the presence of prosecutors within village communities will boost the confidence of village officials in innovating and developing their regions.

The event concluded with an interactive discussion session with village heads and Abpednas officials throughout South Lampung Regency, focusing on legal risk mitigation in preparing village fund accountability reports.
