Attorney General Opens Persaja National Congress, Hopes Prosecutors Can Provide Input to Government
Attorney General Sanitiar (ST) Burhanuddin opened the National Congress of the Indonesian Prosecutors’ Association (Persaja). Burhanuddin asked the prosecutors to provide input to the government.
“In the past, we could pressure the government through Persaja. But now we are not about pressuring, but at the very least we can provide constructive inputs, inputs that are even better for the institution, for the government of course,” said Burhanuddin in his speech at the Attorney General’s Office building, South Jakarta, on Wednesday (15/4/2026).
Burhanuddin wants the prosecutors not to be passive in facing future challenges. Thus, he said, the input provided can help build Indonesia.
Furthermore, Burhanuddin said that the theme of this Persaja National Congress is ‘Persaja as the Epicentre of Strengthening the Prosecution in Safeguarding National Solidarity Sovereignty’. According to him, this grand theme carries a strategic meaning as a prosecutors’ professional organisation.
“So let’s promote a mindset of strengthening integrity and ensuring that every step of the Prosecution is aligned with the interests of the nation,” he stated.
In addition, Burhanuddin asked the Prosecution to carry out a transformation of the law enforcement system. According to him, law is no longer rigid but has evolved into a more humane and dynamic system.
“This is also in line with what we are doing at the Prosecution. The Prosecution is no longer just about law enforcement, of course we will always change to be more dynamic and closer to the community,” he said.
