Attorney General Appoints Jamwas Rudi Margono as Acting Jampidsus

Attorney General of the Republic of Indonesia ST Burhanuddin has appointed the Deputy Attorney General for Supervision (Jamwas), Rudi Margono, as the Acting Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus).

Rudi Margono takes up the post after Febrie Adriansyah stepped down from the Jampidsus seat.

“As a follow-up to the acceptance of Febrie Adriansyah’s resignation from the post of Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, the Attorney General of the Republic of Indonesia, ST Burhanuddin, has appointed Rudi Margono, who currently serves as Deputy Attorney General for Supervision, to carry out the duties of Acting Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes,” said Anang Supriatna, Head of the Legal Information Centre, in an official statement from the Attorney General’s Office on Saturday (11 July).

Anang explained the Attorney General’s reasons for appointing the acting Jampidsus.

“As a step to ensure the continuity of the implementation of duties, functions and authority within the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes until a definitive official is appointed,” Anang said.

He said Rudi’s appointment as acting Jampidsus was stipulated through Attorney General’s Order Number: PRINT-76/A/JA/07/2026.

In the same statement, Anang also said the leadership change would not affect the law enforcement process.

“All handling of special criminal offence cases continues to proceed professionally, independently and in accordance with the prevailing laws and regulations,” Anang said.

It is understood that investigators from Polda Metro Jaya and the National Police’s Corruption and Special Crimes Task Force (Kortastipidkor) have searched a number of locations linked to alleged corruption and money laundering in the coal, Asabri and Krakatau Steel cases.

One of the searches took place at a house in Sentul, Bogor Regency, on Wednesday (8 July). During the search, investigators found a large hidden safe containing a quantity of gold. Febrie has acknowledged the house belongs to him and claimed he can explain the origin of the assets found there.

Febrie himself announced his resignation as Jampidsus in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The decision came less than 12 hours after he held a press conference responding to the law enforcement measures being carried out by the National Police’s Corruption Task Force and Polda Metro Jaya into a number of high-profile alleged corruption cases.

Later, at a press conference on Saturday evening, Margono said Febrie has been named a suspect.
