Attorney General Appoints Dozens of Regional Prosecutors, Reminds Them of Integrity and to Discard Old Work Patterns

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Attorney General ST Burhanuddin inaugurated and administered the oath of office to Heads of Regional Prosecutor’s Offices (Kajati) and echelon II officials within the Republic of Indonesia Attorney General’s Office on Wednesday (29/4/2026).

The inauguration took place in the Auditorium on the 11th Floor of the Main Building of the Attorney General’s Office.

During the ceremony, dozens of officials were appointed to fill several strategic positions, both at the central and regional levels.

Among them were Abd Qohar AF as Head of the East Java Regional Prosecutor’s Office, Sugeng Riyanta as Head of the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Prosecutor’s Office, Sutikno as Head of the West Java Regional Prosecutor’s Office, and Teguh Subroto as Head of the Central Java Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

In his address, Burhanuddin emphasised that rotations, mutations, and promotions are sacred moments that carry the meaning of binding promises, not only to the state but also to God and the public.

“These positions are not merely rights or authorities, but strategic tools to address the challenges of the times and lead change towards betterment,” said Burhanuddin in his statement on Wednesday.

He also highlighted the challenges of law enforcement in the era of Industry Revolution 5.0, marked by rapid advancements in digitalisation and artificial intelligence.

Therefore, he called on all ranks of the Prosecutor’s Office to abandon old, non-adaptive work patterns.

Burhanuddin further emphasised the importance of the Prosecutor’s institution mastering the digital space.

This is considered crucial for controlling fact- and data-based public narratives and preventing the spread of disinformation on social media.

On the other hand, he expressed concern over the continued imposition of disciplinary sanctions on active employees up to April 2026.

He affirmed that he would not tolerate promotions to structural positions for employees who have been subjected to disciplinary sanctions.

“The new leaders are required to conduct strict and consistent inherent supervision, with the principle that responsibility for the actions of every member lies entirely with the respective work unit leaders,” he stated.

To the newly appointed Kajati, Burhanuddin reminded them that they serve as the “showcase” of the Prosecutor’s Office in the regions.

The same message was conveyed to officials within the Attorney General’s Office.
