Attorney General Sanitiar (ST) Burhanuddin has officially appointed 14 Heads of Regional Attorney’s Offices (Kajati) and several Echelon II officials within the Attorney General’s Office on Wednesday (29/4).

The appointment ceremony took place at the Main Building of the Attorney General’s Office and was attended by all officials along with the Prosecutorial Commission. In his directives, Burhanuddin ordered all ranks to leave behind old work patterns that are not adaptive.

Burhanuddin emphasised to the newly appointed officials that their positions are not merely rights or authorities, but tools to lead changes towards improvement.

He then touched on the era of Industry Revolution 5.0, marked by the dominance of digitalisation and artificial intelligence. Therefore, he ordered all ranks to master the digital space to be able to control the public narrative through facts and data.

“The Prosecutor’s Office must no longer work in a business-as-usual manner, but must dare to make breakthroughs that exceed boundaries yet remain within applicable law and ethics,” he stated in a written remark.

“Mastering the digital space is also a necessity so that the institution can control the public narrative through facts and data to prevent the spread of disinformation on social media. Regarding integrity issues, I am concerned about data showing active employees who have been subjected to disciplinary sanctions until April 2026,” he added.

On the same occasion, Burhanuddin asked all parties to uphold the institution’s dignity. He stated that he would not tolerate or promote structural positions for rule violators.

He then requested that the newly appointed leaders conduct strict and consistent inherent supervision.

“With the principle that responsibility for the actions of each member lies entirely in the hands of the respective work unit leaders,” he said.

Furthermore, Burhanuddin reminded that Regional Attorney’s Offices are the showcases of the Prosecutor’s Office in the regions, which must have reliable managerial capabilities and be able to respond to field issues quickly and measurably.

Likewise, for officials within the Attorney General’s Office, the Attorney General asked that they adapt immediately without a long transition period. Because, he continued, the Attorney General’s Office is the pillar of law enforcement functions through various interconnected fields.

“Each field has its own characteristics and dynamics. Errors in understanding tasks and functions can directly impact the quality of law enforcement in Indonesia,” he said.

Finally, he invited all officials to interpret their positional mandates as the final assignment that must be addressed with hard work, smart work, and heartfelt work.

“Demonstrate performance that not only meets targets but leaves a meaningful legacy of dedication, which will later be remembered as real contributions to the institution, nation, and state,” he stated.
