JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Attorney General ST Burhanuddin has affirmed that he will not grant promotions to prosecutors who have been subjected to disciplinary sanctions.

He made this statement during the inauguration and oath-taking ceremony for Heads of High Prosecutor’s Offices (Kajati) and echelon II officials within the Republic of Indonesia Attorney General’s Office, on Wednesday (29/4/2026).

Initially, Burhanuddin expressed concern over the continued existence of active employees who have received disciplinary sanctions up to April 2026.

“Regarding integrity issues, I am concerned about data showing that there are active employees who have been subjected to disciplinary sanctions up to April 2026,” said Burhanuddin in his statement on Wednesday.

Burhanuddin further emphasised that there will be no tolerance whatsoever for his employees who have faced such disciplinary actions.

“There will be no tolerance at all in the form of structural position promotions for those who have survived such disciplinary sanctions,” he stated.

Burhanuddin stressed that unit leaders are obligated to conduct tight and consistent inherent supervision over all ranks.

He also affirmed that responsibility for the actions of members lies entirely with the leaders.

“Such positions are not merely rights or authorities, but strategic tools to address the challenges of the times and lead change towards improvement,” said Burhanuddin.

Furthermore, he highlighted the challenges of law enforcement in the era of Industrial Revolution 5.0, marked by the dominance of digitalisation and artificial intelligence, urging all ranks in the Prosecutor’s Office to abandon outdated, non-adaptive work patterns.

Burhanuddin emphasised that the Prosecutor’s Office can no longer operate in a business-as-usual manner but must dare to make breakthroughs that are still grounded in law and ethics.

He also underscored the importance of mastering the digital space to control public narratives based on facts and data, as well as preventing the spread of disinformation on social media.

Burhanuddin inaugurated several strategic officials on this day, including Abd Qohar AF as Head of the High Prosecutor’s Office in East Java, Sutikno as Head of the High Prosecutor’s Office in West Java, and Teguh Subroto as Head of the High Prosecutor’s Office in Central Java.
