Attention! Mudik Travellers Can Use BPJS Health Insurance Outside Their Home Region
Jakarta — The Director of BPJS Kesehatan, Prihati Pujowaskito, has confirmed that participants in the National Health Insurance (JKN) programme can access healthcare services throughout all regions of Indonesia, even outside their home district or original health facility.
This measure represents an optimisation of BPJS Kesehatan services during the extended Eid al-Fitr 2026 holiday period.
“During this Eid holiday, the JKN service will continue to protect health and ensure all JKN participants can access healthcare services whether in their home region or destination during mudik travel. To facilitate easy access to JKN services, the service can be accessed throughout Indonesia without being limited to the home district,” Pujowaskito stated at a press conference at BPJS Kesehatan headquarters in Jakarta on Monday (9 March 2026).
In addition, BPJS Kesehatan has established mudik assistance posts at eight strategic locations operating from 13-26 March 2026: Merak Port in Banten, Pulo Gebang Terminal in East Jakarta, Rest Area Tol 88A Cipularang in Purwakarta, Rest Area Tol 166A Cipali in Majalengka, Rest Area Tol 429A Ungaran in Semarang, Rest Area Tol 519A Masaran in Sragen, Purbaya Terminal in Sidoarjo, and Soekarno-Hatta Port in Makassar.
“The presence of these posts is expected to provide comfort to mudik travellers whilst facilitating participants in obtaining information regarding JKN programme services during their journey,” Pujowaskito explained.
Services available at the BPJS Kesehatan mudik posts include:
Health consultation
Relaxation facilities for travellers
Basic health screening
Medication provision
Ambulance services
Simple emergency treatment
“The Eid mudik period should not prevent participants from obtaining healthcare services. BPJS Kesehatan ensures that JKN programme services remain easily accessible, allowing the public to undertake their mudik journey with peace of mind knowing their health protection remains guaranteed,” Pujowaskito concluded.
