Attending Indonesia-Japan Business Forum, President Prabowo Pushes for Enhanced Indonesian Partnership...
President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto attended the Indonesia-Japan Business Forum held at the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo on Monday, 30 March 2026. The Head of State’s presence at the forum served as a momentum to strengthen the strategic partnership between Indonesia and Japan in the fields of economy, investment, and future industrial development.
President Prabowo affirmed that Japan is a very important partner for Indonesia. Economic relations between the two countries have been established for decades with significant contributions from Japanese companies in various sectors. The Head of State also expressed appreciation to Japanese business actors who have long invested in Indonesia and become part of the national development journey.
“Japan has consistently supported Indonesia’s economic development. Many of you in this room have been part of that journey. You have been in Indonesia for a long time. You know Indonesia well—its people, market, culture, and potential,” said President Prabowo.
During the event, President Prabowo conveyed that his presence at the forum was not only to continue the existing partnership but also to push it to a higher and faster level. The Head of State emphasised the importance of close cooperation in an increasingly interconnected world, and he believes that strong economic partnerships will create sustainable peace and friendship.
“I am here not only to continue the existing partnership but to push it to a higher and faster level. The world is shrinking. There is no other choice but close cooperation in all fields. I believe that strong economic relations and partnerships will result in sustainable peace and friendship. If we have shared interests, we will safeguard the present and the future,” stated President Prabowo.
In addition, the Head of State highlighted Indonesia’s ongoing transformation, which is moving forward and becoming more competitive than two decades ago. President Prabowo affirmed that Indonesia is currently entering a new phase of faster growth, with a strong commitment to enhancing competitiveness and creating a more conducive investment climate.
“You must also know that Indonesia today is no longer the Indonesia you knew 20 or 25 years ago. We are moving faster than before. We are striving to be more competitive and are determined to enter a new phase of growth,” added the Head of State.
In front of global business leaders, President Prabowo also stated that Japan is one of Indonesia’s most trusted economic partners. Japanese investments are considered to be of high quality, characterised by discipline, technological mastery, and long-term commitment. The President personally expressed appreciation for the close relations that have been established between the two countries.
“Japan brings quality to investments—discipline, technology, and long-term commitment. That is why Japanese investments are respected, not only in Indonesia but throughout the world, and personally, I greatly appreciate this relationship,” said the Head of State.
This forum serves as an important platform for Indonesia to affirm its position as Japan’s primary strategic partner in the region, while opening a new chapter in more modern, resilient, and future-oriented economic cooperation.
