The extended family of the Faculty of Law, Pelita Harapan University (FH UPH), organised a ‘Fun Walk’ activity as part of the celebrations for its 30th anniversary. Held in the Tangerang area, the event served as a strategic momentum for the academic community to campaign for the importance of legal awareness and a culture of law compliance among the wider public.

This communal walking event was attended by professors, lecturers, students, and alumni. Among the distinguished guests was the Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Setyo Budiyanto.

Accompanying the committee and academic members were legal expert Henry Sulistyo, Jovita Irawati, the Chairperson of the Batch 33 Committee I Nyoman Widia, and Yuli Yanti Hutagaol, a representative of the Doctoral Law programme students at FH UPH Batch 33.

FH UPH Professor Henry Sulistyo explained that the fun walk holds a much broader significance than merely exercising together or celebrating the campus anniversary. According to him, this momentum serves as a platform for academics to convey vital messages regarding the strengthening of the rule of law in Indonesia.

“Today, the FH UPH family is sharing joy to strengthen our bonds, while simultaneously sending an outward message that legal education for the public is essential. Through this momentum, we hope that the citizens of this great nation become increasingly law-abiding and that a legal culture can become part of daily life,” Henry stated in a release on Saturday.

Similar appreciation was expressed by Yuli Yanti Hutagaol, a legal practitioner (advocate and curator) currently pursuing a Doctorate in Law at UPH. She expressed pride in participating and interacting informally with leaders of law enforcement agencies and professors.

“It is a great joy to walk alongside my classmates from Batch 33. It is an honour for us to walk with Prof. Henry, Prof. Jovita, and to have the opportunity to meet the Chairman of the KPK directly. I hope UPH continues to progress in the field of education,” said Yuli.

Through this activity, FH UPH is committed to continuing the cultivation of a humanist academic culture and encouraging the active role of the entire academic community in providing real contributions to law enforcement in the country.
