Attaka produces 600m barrels
JAKARTA (JP): Oil and gas company Unocal Indonesia, one of state oil company Pertamina's production-sharing contractors, announced here on Wednesday that it had exceeded a 600-million barrel cumulative production target from its Attaka field in East Kalimantan.
"The amount has been achieved in less than eight years of production," the company said in a statement.
The subsidiary of the United States-based Unocal Corp. said the figure exceeded their previous highest record of 500 million barrels in 1993.
Since its initial production in 1972, the Attaka field in which a 50 percent stake is owned by Japan-owned oil company Indonesia Petroleum Ltd (Inpex), has been producing 23,500 barrels of oil per day (bpd) and 150 million cubic feet per day (mcfd).
"We hope to celebrate 700 million barrels of production soon," it said. (03)
