Attacker of UIN Suska Riau Student, About to Face Thesis Defence, Turns Out to be a Student

The perpetrator who attacked Faradilla Ayu Pramesti, a student at UIN Suska Riau, shortly before her final thesis defence, has been arrested. The perpetrator initially held the victim hostage after the assault.

“During questioning by our security officers, the perpetrator only stated that he was from Bangkinang. His name is Raihan Mufazzar,” said a representative lecturer from UIN Suska Riau, Rony Riansyah, as quoted by detikSumut, Thursday (26/2/2026).

The perpetrator, named Raihan Mufazzar, has been taken into custody at the Bina Widya Police Station. Rony revealed that the perpetrator had detained the victim shortly after carrying out the brutal attack. Rony stated that the perpetrator and the victim knew each other.

“It is confirmed that the perpetrator and the victim know each other; whether this is true regarding the circulating information (that they were dating) or not, it cannot yet be confirmed. However, it is clear that they know each other, and we are still gathering complete data to determine if the perpetrator is also a student at UIN,” said Rony.

The victim has been evacuated to the Bhayangkara Hospital of the Riau Police for a medical examination and further treatment. The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Pekanbaru Police, AKP Anggi Rian, stated that both the victim and the perpetrator are registered as students at UIN Suska Riau. The perpetrator arrived carrying two sharp weapons.

“The perpetrator and the victim are both students at UIN Suska Riau. So far, we can confirm that the perpetrator arrived carrying an axe and a machete,” said Anggi.
