Attack on MV Tihama: Two Indonesian Crew Injured, One Still Missing

The Indonesian government has not yet been able to confirm reports of the death of one Indonesian crew member as a result of an air strike on the MV Tihamah off the southern coast of Yemen near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait on Tuesday (11/8/2026).

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, there were three Indonesian crew members on the vessel, two of whom were injured and one of whom has not yet been found.

The Director for the Protection of Indonesian Citizens at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Heni Hamidah, said that the ministry, through the Indonesian Embassy in Muscat, continues to coordinate with relevant parties regarding the attack on the MV Tihamah. Heni said there were 11 crew members on the vessel, three of whom were Indonesian nationals.

Based on communication between the Indonesian Embassy in Muscat and the surviving Indonesian crew members, the attack occurred while the MV Tihamah was docked at the Port of Bab el-Mandeb in Murad, Yemen.

“Of the three Indonesian crew members, one sustained minor injuries from shrapnel and did not require hospital treatment, while another was injured and is still receiving treatment in hospital in a stable condition. Meanwhile, one other Indonesian crew member has still not been found,” Heni said in a statement on Wednesday (12/8/2026).
