ATR/BPN Minister Praises Central Java Provincial Government's Performance, Focus on Revitalising Agricultural Land
The Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), Nusron Wahid, has lauded the performance of the Central Java Provincial Government under Governor Ahmad Luthfi and Deputy Governor Taj Yasin Maimoen. He said their leadership has delivered programmes that improve the welfare of the people, especially through land and spatial planning reforms. The remarks were made during a Ramadan safari and breaking of fast at the Gradhika Bhakti Praja Building in Semarang on Saturday, 7 March 2026.
According to Nusron, regional leaders play a vital role in boosting public welfare through strategic policies, including in land management and spatial planning. ‘Regional leadership must be able to bring welfare and raise the dignity of their people,’ he said.
Chair of Commission II of the House of Representatives Rifqinizamy Karsayuda also expressed appreciation for the Central Java government’s performance, citing audit data from the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK) and assessments from the State Apparatus Reform Ministry (PAN-RB) that show an improving trend. ‘We rely on data from BPK audits and PAN-RB; things are getting better. We commend Governor Luthfi and Gus Yasin,’ he said. He added that the Ramadan safari was also an opportunity to strengthen synergy between the central and regional governments. ‘When we are compact and harmonious, all problems can be resolved well.’
He also stressed that regional leaders today must be creative and innovative, especially given the policy to refocus the budget. This year there are reductions in transfer funds to regions (TKD) that have been redirected to other priority programs. Therefore, regional programs must be implemented effectively and efficiently, yielding not only short-term results but long-term benefits. ‘Ultimately, Central Java can demonstrate differentiation and self-reliance,’ he said.
The minister emphasised that public services in land administration must transform to suit the character of today’s society, particularly the younger generation.
Deputy Speaker of Commission II Bahtra Banong welcomed Nusron Wahid’s apology regarding the controversy over his remarks about idle land potentially being seized by the state.
Minister Nusron Wahid also stated that the government would not stand idly by over land management practices that are not in line with regulations. The waqf land is intended for the construction of mosques and pesantren in Palu and Sigi regencies.
Nusron Wahid confirmed that the government would restore 717 land certificates belonging to transmigrants in Kotabaru, South Kalimantan, which had previously been cancelled.
Prabowo joked that he might have placed Nusron in the wrong ministry, suggesting he move to the Ministry of Religious Affairs. He also said he was impressed by the prayers led by Nusron.
Nusron Wahid hopes the issue surrounding the ouster of Yahya Cholil Satquf (Gus Yahya), head of Nahdlatul Ulama, will pass quickly.
The ATR/BPN continues to strengthen synergy with regional governments to accelerate the certification of state assets by handing over 254 asset certificates to the heads of regional administrations in South Sulawesi.
