ATR/BPN Hands Over 243 Land Certificates for Waqf Assets in Central Java, Achievement Reaches 73%
Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Nusron Wahid handed over 243 waqf land certificates from various regions in Central Java. The programme, implemented through cooperation between the Regional Office of the National Land Agency (BPN) of Central Java Province and the Provincial Government of Central Java, is an important step in providing legal certainty and protecting community assets from potential disputes in the future. “Today we symbolically handed over 243 waqf certificates out of thousands of waqf land certificates issued in 2026. This is part of the national priority programme in the land sector, namely resolving legal certainty for waqf lands at places of worship and public facilities, be it mosques, prayer rooms, schools, Islamic boarding schools, including cemeteries,” said Minister Nusron Wahid in his statement on Tuesday (16/6/2026). This was conveyed after attending the Islamic New Year 1 Muharram 1448 H Commemoration and the Handover of Waqf Land Certificates by the Central Java Provincial Government at the Gradhika Bhakti Praja Building, Central Java Governor’s Office. The achievement of waqf land certification in Central Java has currently reached 73 percent, which is above the national average. This achievement shows the increasing public awareness over the last three to four years to legalise religious assets. However, there are still a number of mosques, prayer rooms, and other waqf assets in Central Java that have not been certified. Therefore, the Ministry of ATR/BPN continues to accelerate the process through various strategies, including resolving issues related to deceased donors, the absence of a nazir, and unclear land boundaries. “We are carrying out identification. We are targeting that within the next three years, the achievement of waqf land certification in Central Java can reach 95 percent,” he explained. When handing over the certificates, he was accompanied by the Governor of Central Java Ahmad Luthfi, Deputy Governor of Central Java Taj Yasin Maimoen, and Head of the Regional Office of BPN Central Java Province Sri Pranoto. On the same occasion, educational assistance was also handed over to 100 orphans from several Islamic foundations in Central Java. Governor of Central Java Ahmad Luthfi appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of ATR/BPN in accelerating waqf land certification in his region. “Today is a blessing for the lands in Central Java, whether problematic land, inherited land, waqf land, or other lands. The presence of the Minister of ATR/Head of BPN is a blessing for all of us,” concluded Ahmad Luthfi.
