The Slamet Rijadi Yogyakarta Foundation (YSRY), the organising body of Atma Jaya University Yogyakarta (UAJY), has confirmed the dishonourable dismissal of a lecturer identified as R. The foundation stated the decision was made in accordance with legal provisions and internal regulations, following a process that began in 2024 and concluded in 2026. YSRY’s legal representative, Hengky Widhi Antoro, emphasised that the decision was not sudden or baseless, but a necessary institutional action to uphold integrity, professionalism, and good governance within the higher education institution. The foundation respects R’s right to pursue legal recourse, which is currently underway under the Industrial Relations Dispute Settlement Law and has passed the bipartite stage. UAJY has appointed its Centre for Legal Aid and Consultation as legal counsel and reaffirmed its commitment to the tridharma of higher education with quality and integrity. The case gained public attention after the Yogyakarta Legal Aid Institute highlighted that the lecturer was dismissed following a report to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology alleging predatory journal publications involving fellow academics, campus officials, and professors.
