Member of Commission VIII of the House of Representatives (DPR) Atalia Praratya has expressed her distress over the abuse and false imprisonment suffered by YTR (29) at the hands of her boyfriend, identified by the initials TH (30), over a period of three years. Atalia stated that the victim’s condition is extremely concerning.

“When I visited YTR, my heart was broken and filled with sadness. The structure of the victim’s face is severely damaged, she has lost her eyesight, and she is suffering from serious injuries as a result of the cruel violence endured during three years of captivity,” Atalia told reporters on Tuesday (23/6/2026).

“However, what provides some solace is the victim’s spirit to recover and rise again,” she continued. Atalia noted that she witnessed the victim’s determination to heal and move on from her ordeal. One of the victim’s hopes, she said, is to be able to see again.

“She told me that she wants to be able to see again. Therefore, the most important focus now is to ensure the state is fully present in the recovery process, while the search for the perpetrator continues,” she stated. She immediately contacted several relevant institutions and partners after seeing the victim’s condition firsthand. She said the victim must receive the necessary assistance and treatment.

“Alhamdulillah, several agencies have now stepped in and are ready to guarantee medical assistance and recovery for the victim,” she said. Atalia considers the incident a serious violation of human rights. The Golkar Party politician stated that the actions experienced by the victim contravene guarantees of personal protection.

“Therefore, I urge law enforcement officials to apply the heaviest layered articles in the Criminal Code, both regarding grievous bodily harm and the deprivation of a person’s liberty,” she said. “Currently, the police are also moving to conduct a manhunt in the field. I appeal to the public, let us help the police. If you have any information, no matter how small, regarding the whereabouts of this inhuman person, report it immediately. Do not let the perpetrator roam free. Pursue him to the ends of the earth,” she added.
