The Governor of Jakarta, Pramono Anung, attended the Urban 20 (U2cap) Mayors Summit 2026 in New York, United States. During the event, Pramono presented Jakarta’s economic growth and investment opportunities.
“At the U20 Mayors Summit 2026, I had the opportunity to introduce Jakarta’s emerging economic growth and investment opportunities, while simultaneously strengthening Jakarta’s steps towards becoming a global city,” Pramono stated in a release on Sunday (20/09/2026).
He noted that the forum was attended by leaders of major cities worldwide. According to him, the participants engaged in an exchange of ideas and experiences regarding urban development.
“We exchanged experiences and solutions to ensure that urban progress truly brings benefits to our citizens,” he said.
The U20 Mayors Summit 2026 took place from 19–21 September 2026, co-led by New York and Los Angeles. This forum serves as a G20 engagement group that brings together leaders of major cities to discuss urban issues, including affordable housing, climate action and urban resilience, and human mobility.
New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, acting as the co-chair of U20 2026, stated that the forum provides a space for concrete inter-city cooperation. He expressed hope that such partnerships would flourish.
“New York City is proud to co-chair Urban 20 and stands alongside mayors who will not let families struggle alone. In times of division and regression, our cities choose cooperation,” said Zohran.
Meanwhile, the Special Staff to the Governor of Jakarta, Chico Hakim, mentioned that Pramono met with Mamdani to discuss direct cooperation opportunities. He noted that the discussions covered areas such as public transport, air quality, water management and coastal resilience, waste management, and food affordability.
“Jakarta came not only to learn, but to ensure that economic growth and every established partnership truly benefit our citizens,” said Chico.
He ensured that the Jakarta Provincial Government is committed to following up on the results of this meeting with concrete programmes to improve public service quality and the welfare of Jakarta’s residents.
