At UN Headquarters, Forestry Minister Reveals Prabowo's Commitment on Forest Management
JAKARTA - Indonesia’s Minister of Forestry, Raja Juli Antoni, has reaffirmed the strong commitment of President Prabowo Subianto to preserving the world’s forests at the 21st United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF21) at the UN Headquarters in New York, United States, on Monday (11/5/2026).
“Under the direction of President Prabowo Subianto, Indonesia continues to strengthen forest governance as an inseparable part of global climate action,” said Raja Juli in his statement on Tuesday (12/5/2026).
At the international forum, Raja Juli conveyed that Sustainable Forest Management is an integral pillar of Indonesia’s national agenda.
He added that forests are the foundation of future sustainability and national economic resilience.
“Forests are not merely a resource, but the foundation for the sustainability of our future generations and the resilience of the nation’s economy,” stated Raja Juli.
According to him, Indonesia’s participation in UNFF21 serves as a crucial momentum to demonstrate tangible achievements in maintaining national forest cover and promoting inclusive and accountable forest governance to the international community.
Meanwhile, Director General of Sustainable Forest Management (PHL) Laksmi Wijayanti stated that the UNFF21 session is a high-level UN meeting aimed at enhancing political cooperation in global forest management.
“The presence of the Forestry Minister in New York underscores Indonesia’s strategic position as one of the largest tropical forest-owning countries that consistently stands at the forefront of nature-based climate change solutions,” revealed Laksmi.
