This was conveyed by Raja Juli while attending the 21st Session of the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF21), held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, United States, on Monday (11/5). The Chair of UNFF21 gave Indonesia the first opportunity to deliver its National Statement at the UNFF21 forum.
In the presence of delegates from various countries, Raja Juli conveyed Prabowo’s commitment to preserving forests. This commitment encompasses climate mitigation actions, biodiversity conservation, and strengthening economic resilience and sustainable development.
“Under the direction of President Prabowo Subianto, Indonesia continues to strengthen forest governance as an inseparable part of global climate action. Forests are not merely resources, but the foundation for the sustainability of our future generations and the resilience of our nation’s economy,” said Raja Juli in his statement on Tuesday (12/5/2026).
Indonesia’s participation in UNFF21 serves as a momentum to showcase the country’s achievements in maintaining national forest cover and promoting inclusive and accountable forest governance to the international community. Raja Juli also emphasised that the protection of Indonesia’s forest ecosystems is carried out in a balanced manner with efforts to improve community welfare at the grassroots level.
Director General of Sustainable Forest Management (PHL) Laksmi Wijayanti stated that the UNFF21 Session is a high-level UN meeting aimed at enhancing political cooperation in global forest management.
“The presence of the Forestry Minister in New York reaffirms Indonesia’s strategic position as one of the largest tropical forest-owning countries that consistently stands at the forefront of nature-based climate change solutions,” she revealed.
