At the Blue House, Prabowo Praises South Korea's Industrial Progress and Work Ethic

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto praised South Korea’s accomplishments, particularly in the industrial sector and the work ethic of its society.

Prabowo emphasised this during a lunch reception at the Presidential Palace of the Republic of Korea, Cheong Wa Dae or Blue House, on Wednesday (1 April 2026).

Prabowo even quoted a famous Korean proverb about reflecting on the spirit of togetherness to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.

“We admire your achievements. We admire your discipline, your hard work, and your desire to always overcome challenges. I understand there is a famous Korean proverb that goes something like this: ‘If we go together, we will go far,’” said Prabowo, quoted from his statement on Wednesday.

The luncheon took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere, reflecting the close relations between the two countries.

On the same occasion, Prabowo also expressed appreciation for the warm welcome given by President Lee.

Prabowo also stressed the importance of the outcomes from the bilateral meetings conducted by both sides.

“It is a great honour for me to be here after the very productive and beneficial discussions we have held today,” he said.

“The enhancement of our bilateral relations to a special comprehensive strategic partnership, along with the signing of several important agreements, reflects the deep trust and shared vision that bind our two countries,” he continued.

Prabowo also conveyed his belief that the strengthened partnership and the agreements reached will provide real and sustainable benefits for both countries.

“We have many similarities in history and shared interests. Both our countries had to fight very hard for independence. The Republic of Korea has succeeded very well in becoming a highly advanced industrial nation,” said Prabowo.
